Think Plus
Growing Young Minds Conference
Working on the ThinkPlus account was my first foray into the world of education. As the lead writer, I worked closely over a period of 9 months with the ThinkPlus team helping them build their community via social, as well as ensuring that we filled out their first yearly conference ‘Growing Young Minds’ in September.
At first, the build out and growth of the community was slow as we were adjusting to understanding the audience, what they thought about the emerging education topics of emotional resilience, mindsets and plasticity. I also pursued outside research given I already had a network of younger teachers (more our demographic) at my behest. What I learned was truly invaluable – while younger teachers are open to the topic, some even eager to bring these new concepts into their classroom – often the bureaucracy of their senior leaders hindered them.
Even with this pushback, we created a strong social strategy and we sold out the conference. Having learned a great deal through conferences and events we had put together through the Bec Brideson - Gender Intelligence consultancy – I utilised many behavioural economic strategies in order to sell out the room such as through nuanced copy or using tactical offers such as limiting 2-for-1 ticket sales to selected weeks or posting on local community groups to get the word out about the conference.
Growing Young Minds was held on September 3rd and it was a significant success. Given the feedback from participants, ThinkPlus is extremely happy with our work.
