NDIA
Risk Week Superheroes
In late 2018, we were commissioned to undertake an internal comms job with the Federal Government’s National Disability and Insurance Agency for Risk Week.
This was an especially sensitive internal job given the media critique that had happened the year before around the budget and use of comms for Risk Week which had received extreme scrutiny.
Given the intense and restricted brief, I came up with the concept of superheroes aptly named ‘Risk Heroes’ who would need to save ‘Risk City’ by answering Risk Questions through a board game.
As the senior writer, I was tasked to create all the copy for collateral and communications including:
- Risk Video scripts including CEO Rob De Luca’s speech. These risk videos would be played throughout the week to employees nationally.
- Risk Video interviews with all DCEO senior leaders - write concepts, produce interviews, production and shoot. These interviews would help employees understand how important risk is not only to the organisation overall but within the day to day lives of staff including DCEO senior leaders and the CEO.
- Risk Video scenarios
- Animation Script
- Game Mat and Game Rules
- Risk Questions
A highlight of my time on the project was when I was tasked to fly to Sydney with our production staff in order to conduct all the DCEO and CEO interviews, supervise and monitor the talent and record the extra collateral and cutaways needed. I also had to accompany our client to the recording studio to manage her recording for the audio during the animation.
Risk Week 2019 for the NDIA was a huge success and my exposure to a national comms internal campaign was invaluable. We have been asked back to conduct Risk Week 2020.
